Three years ago McCormick International USA, Inc. moved from Pella, Iowa, to Norcross, Georgia. Now, they are on the move again; this time, just around the corner, approximately three miles north of the current location.
Their new 120,000 square foot facility is over 2.5 times larger than the current building. As part of the expansion, the company will consolidate the Kiel, Wisconsin and Baltimore, Maryland operations into the new facility to handle light assembly of tractors. Several employees will be added as a result.
McCormick expects to see a considerable cost savings in logistics and freight as well as greater quality control. They will be able to see the tractors before they hit the trucks. They believe the facility will provide the company with several hundred thousand dollars net savings in the first year and much more in subsequent years.
The new facility has been renovated and will include offices, warehousing operations, an assembly area, and a large well-equipped training center. It will also include an athletic and workout facilities, complete with showers and a locker room for employees, which will also be accessible on the weekends.
McCormick's staff moved into their new facility over the weekend. They are still putting on the final touches.
